Healing body and mind

Striking beauty, breathtaking views and exotic culture is just one of the thoughts I get when I think of Bali, but there is so much more to say, so much more I could say. When visiting Bali, or get the opportunity, take the chance to experience a traditional Balinese healing. This practice uses natural herbs and spices, holistic therapy and ancient wisdom to cure physical and mental illness, but is still an experience you want to have on your “have done”-list.

The Balinese live equally in two worlds: the conscious world called sekala and the psychic world called niskala. In Balinese healing both elements is of great importance to truly heal an ill patient. One of the traditional methods used in Balinese healing is sound vibrations created from chanting ancient mantras and herbal medicines known as ‘jamu’. Balians (Balinese healer) are spiritual individuals with divine energy and through his chanting he becomes one with all spiritual energies and brings all energies into being, alive and working toward healing the illness.

There may be differences in execution of the healing session because of the use of different techniques from the Balian and depending from his/hers background which means that every healing is a new experience.

The greatest cocktail in the known universe

Fruity goodness in a glass. May we present the magnificent Gingery Slammer.

1 Oz Ginger Vodka
0,5 Oz Southern Comfort
0.5 Oz Amaretto
2 Oz Freshly squeezed Orange Juice
3 Oz Cranberry Juice

Shake all ingredients over ice and serve in a chilled cocktail glass.

We make Ginger Vodka by infusing ginger in vodka. You can approximate it by using normal vodka and adding a tablespoon of ginger juice.

It’s beautiful to do nothing and then rest afterwards

Although ascribed to the Spanish, I find the caption above to express one of a select few truths that applies to all of mankind. One that is largely and sadly ignored.

So here we are. Ibuh has thrown herself into the fray, head first into a new beginning on the Island of The God’s.
As of today she is the head honcho of the seductive and beautiful Damai Resort, located on the north shores of Bali. It is a homecoming of sorts, like that of the gathering of old friends, as we have visited here frequently during all of the roughly 13 years that this resort has been in operation. Much of the staff here are old friends, the same faces as from the very first day, except of course for needed additions along the way, as the property has grown into the comprehensive experience it is today.

And I am with Ibuh, in no capacity what so ever, except to carry the heavier loads and to otherwise do nothing. Something I am convinced will come as naturally to me as breathing air or drinking water.

My intention for this blog is to offer myself a distraction from doing nothing and to offer those of you who will join our adventure, a glimpse of everyday life where we are. This may be in the form of long, tiring tirades or short, precise accounts of single sentence entires.
Or simply a photograph. As they often say more than a thousand words.
But a daily entry is my intention and if I fail, I welcome any and all encouragement to deliver as promised.

As a final disclaimer I wish to emphasize that in these accounts I make no promises to tell the whole truth so help me God’s, but I will try and come close to what I find is a fair account of events.

Beyond that it is anyone’s guess what is really going on,-:)
